Globe Telecom just announced the commercial availability of its Globe WiMax (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) service that will initially be available in South Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
WiMAX uses the 802.16 standard and currently has a maximum bandwidth speed of up to 70 megabits per second. Subscribers of the WiMAX-powered Globe Broadband service would get a maximum bandwidth of up to 512 kilobits per second at 795 pesos per month.
